Refurbishing is the process of taking a used, or partially used product, refreshing it and bringing it back as close to new as possible. This can mean deep cleaning, replacing parts, or even a full strip down and component level replacement.
In our context, we have multiple grades of refurbished gaming laptops, from Grade A, being the best condition, through to Grade C, which is our lowest. For the most part, anything we refurbish in house is a 30-day customer return, meaning it's been used for less than 30 days before being returned and reconditioned by one of our professionals.
We also have a small range of 'Open Box' gaming laptops. Not quite brand new, and not quite refurbished but somewhere in between. These are fully unused, but have been removed from their package for some reason or another. Usually just to inspect when we get them in, or an unopened return that we then go on to open when it comes back to us to check everything is still ok.
Is a Refurbished Gaming Laptop Good
Yes! It's a fantastic way to prevent e-waste in landfill and save sometimes significant amounts of money. There is a negative stigma around refurbished products that just isn't deserved outside of some unscrupulous resellers. All our refurbs are fully tested, spotlessly clean and essentially good as new - minus the odd cosmetic defect.
In short, when you buy a refurbished laptop for gaming, you'll receive a fantastic, clean and fully working product at a fraction of the price of a new one. You'll be contributing to a greener future and ensuring valuable raw materials don't end up as waste!
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages
Refurbished products are cheaper. That is their main advantage. Plus, they're better for the planet. As for disadvantages - there are some, but turns out, they are also advantages in disguise. For one. There will be cosmetic defects on the item. This could include scratches, minor dents or even slight chips or cracks to the frame of the device (as detailed in the condition notes when you go to purchase). But as before, this just results in the product being cheaper for the consumer, and our exacting checks ensure that they have no bearing on the function of the device!
